Farmers from Sylvester Manor Educational Farm will demonstrate how to harvest, process and preserve heirloom seeds from your garden for planting next year. Seed saving is a growing movement which encourages the growing of heirloom and open-pollinated seeds in order to preserve the genetic diversity of plants available to gardeners, farmers & future generations. On a local level, seed saving is a way to select for varieties and traits that are well-adapted to our local growing conditions. This program is sponsored by the Shelter Island Seed Library - a joint project of the library and Sylvester Manor Educational Farm.  Please register at the Library.
