Magda Saleh:  A Footnote in Ballet History - Film and Q and A

Prima Ballerina Magda Saleh, who grew up in Cairo, danced Giselle as a guest star with the Bolshoi Ballet.  Her story, and that of her colleagues, is told in the engrossing, award-winning documentary A Footnote in Ballet History directed by Hisham Abdel Khalek (produced by H & O Productions). <note Terry:  the director and production co. need to be credited in all promo materials> The film explores the flowering of ballet in Egypt during the Cold War. Dr. Saleh and her fellow dancers recall the founding of the first national ballet school, staffed with Soviet teachers, and the early triumphs, collapse and renewed hopes over the course of five decades.  Ms. Saleh and two of her classmates will be here with John Claassen, Producing Director of Fusionworks, to answer questions after the film.
